Background
Prior to 1983, the Code contained a "patchwork" of offences relating to sexual misbehafour.[1]
In 1983, a major reorganization of sexual offences took place.[2]
In 1988, additional changes were made, repealing a number of offences, consisting of sexual intercourse with a female under 14 or 16, sexual intercourse with a step-daughter or ward, seduction of female passengers, buggery and gross indecency.[3]
The trend through the changes to the sexual offences demonstrates a move from offences of immorality to offences of harm.[4]
